Private Hire (Executive) or Taxi?
Meridian cars use two different types of licensed vehicle, Taxis and Private Hire (Executive) cars.
Certain occasions may demand that one vehicle is more suitable than another for your journey.
Our Private Hire cars are discreet and totally unmarked. This may be more your choice for an anniversary trip to a restaurant or a pick up from a top level conference. These cars can only be pre-booked by phone or using the booking form on our website.
Taxis display the local authority license number prominently and in addition have a lighted top box in order that they can be seen clearly. This enables you to be sure that the cars are properly insured and licensed if you book one specially or pick one from the Taxi rank.
Taxis have a further advantage in London and other cities as they are generally permitted to use bus lanes and can get through traffic quickly.
An option to choose either Private Hire/Executive or Taxi is available on the booking forms. If you select the option 'No Preference', our Operations Manager will choose for you.
If your choice is important to you, please allow 24 hours notice for us to arrange your booking.*
* There is no additional cost for either service but if insufficient notice is given, Meridian Cars reserve the right to supply whichever vehicle is available.
